The Whitewater High School National Honor Society was established in 1956 to create enthusiasm for scholarship, promote worthy leadership, stimulate a desire to render service, and encourage the development of character in our student body. Members are recognized each year for their exceptional achievements, integrity, helpful personality, and ability to influence others in a positive way. NHS has become a prestigious organization, ranking high among college admission officers, scholarship committees, high school administrators, faculty members, students, parents, and residents of our community. For many, selection as a member of the National Honor Society is the pinnacle of achievement in school. This honor, recognized throughout the nation, is both the public recognition of outstanding accomplishments and the private commitment to continued excellence on the part of each member.
Being a National Honor Society member is a great honor and a responsibility. Members attend monthly meetings led by elected officers who use collaborative decision-making when planning projects that make our school & community a better place. They organize events that raise money for numerous charities such as the Family Emergency Fund, welcome new students to school during New Student Orientation, and inspire compassion for others by hosting the Kindness Matters Project. They promote world peace by building positive relationships with students from around the world during their annual International Student Exchange Weekend & foster school spirit & fellowship among peers by sponsoring the winter dance. They care for members of the community by donating to the Whitewater Food Pantry & delivering holiday gifts to senior citizens, families in need, and local homeless shelters. NHS members also recognize achievement within the student body during National Student Leadership Week & encourage their peers to save lives by giving blood during the annual American Red Cross Blood Drive. Members encourage all students to work hard, accomplish exceptional educational goals, and use their time & talent to make Whitewater High School the best it can be.
We encourage all students at Whitewater High School to learn more about the National Honor Society, set high standards for achievement and behavior, and work hard each year to accomplish exceptional educational goals.
