Three Medal at CC Invitational
CC Medalists

The Whippet girls started things off for the cross country team Tuesday underneath a warm sunny day with firm footing. Allisan Barrett returned to the line-up in a big way securing 4th place overall in a loaded girls’ field. Six of the top seven team places were secured by teams that are currently ranked in the top 10 for their respective division (3 in the top 8 for D2, 3 in the top 10 for D3). Allisan looked calm and collected as she blitzed her way to a finishing time of 19:26. Nicole Tomomitsu, Crystal Chan, and Hailey Prager all finished within 9 seconds of each other. Their solid places of 35th, 38th, and 39th were a good way to wrap up their day. Jenna Lee ran a big PR to secure the final scoring spot for the team score in 59th place. Alayna Mikulski and Rosie Aschenbrener also placed in the varsity race in 71st and 74th, respectively. The team finished in 8th place out of 12 teams represented. The boys fed off their finishes and started out with a quick early pace as the course narrows quickly in an effort to secure good positioning. Trenten Zahn led the Whippets with an incredibly strong 11th place showing. He used his prior race experience to push his limits and today he was rewarded with a huge personal best and first medal as a varsity athlete. Jon Brunner debuted in his first race with a huge improvement over last season. In fact, he ran nearly two and half minutes faster than he did at this meet last year and also earned his first medal as a varsity athlete. His time of 17:57 was good enough for 18th. Aidan Coburn and Jon Zheng brought it in together finishing in 34th and 35th place. Rounding out the team scoring was Steven Witt in 57th with a season best time. Also running varsity was Daniel Trost in 66th and Alex Popke in 71st. The team finished in 7th out of 12 teams. The JV race was led by freshmen Ian Killoran with a 25th place finish. As a group, the JV team finished in 9th place with 215 points. Next up for both programs will be the 49th Annual Angel Invitational held at UW-Parkside on Saturday, September 16th.
