NHS Holds Induction Ceremony for New Members
NHS Induction Ceremony

The 61st Annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony took place on Wednesday evening, November 29, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Whitewater High School (WHS) Auditorium. Thirty new juniors and seniors were selected for membership by the faculty based on outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, and service to school and community. The induction ceremony began with a welcome and comments by Whitewater High School Associate Principal, Nathan O’Shaughnessy.  The National Anthem was then sung by the WHS Music Masters followed by a piece entitled, “All Ye Who Music Love” by Baldassare Donato.  Whitewater High School Principal, Mike Lovenberg, shared opening remarks about high standards of achievement and the importance of outstanding leadership, character, scholarship and service.  NHS advisor, Pamela Sonmor-Wintz, introduced the 2017-2018 National Honor Society officers, presented each with a NHS medallion and showed a musical photo story of projects completed during the past school year.  NHS President, James Dedrick, Vice President, Casey Skindingsrude, Secretary – Allison Heckert and Treasurer – Dalton Chenoweth gave speeches about leadership, character, scholarship and service during the candle lighting ceremony.  After individual introductions on stage, each new member received a National Honor Society pin from Mr. Lovenberg and a certificate from Mr. OShaughnessy.  NHS President, James Dedrick thanked everyone for their contributions to the Induction Ceremony and asked all members to stand and recite the NHS pledge.  At the conclusion of the program, a reception with cake and punch was served and a large group photo of all members was taken by Tom Ganser on the auditorium stage.
