The Whippet Track and Field Family traveled to McFarland for the Rock Valley Conference Championship Meet on Saturday. After a long day of competition with many lead changes the Whippet Boys emerged victorious with 118 points with Jefferson not far behind scoring 114 points. It took everyone contributing in some way to secure the victory. The boys crowned 5 conference champions with Will Leibbrand leading the way with victories in the 100 M Dash and Long Jump. Sashi Popke defended his title in the pole vault, Jared Clapper won the 200 M Dash, and the 4X100 ran to victory with members Jack Mayer, Tyler Pavlik, Jared Clapper, and Will Leibrand. It took a total team effort to secure the win. Earning valuable points were Juan Cuellar finishing 2nd in the 400 narrowly missing victory, the 4X800 M relay finishing 3rd, the 4X200 with a second, and on and on it went. Leaders emerged all day long keeping everyone focused and prepared to compete. The girls battled hard all day long as well but in the end came up a little short. Sydney Treder was victorious in the pole vault while Abby Grosinske took home gold in the shot put. Kacie Carollo's two second place finishes in the 100 M Dash and 200 M dash, along with a 5th in the long jump gave the Whippet girls valuable points. Morgan Radaj, Abby Grosinske and Grace Black also helped the Whippet girls dominate in the sprints as the girls captured 3 of the top 5 places in the 100 and 200 M dashes. All in all, it was a great day for Whippet Track and Field. The coaching staff is proud of all the athletes. Complete results can be found at http://www.accuracetiming.com/schedule.html.
