Several Whippet Fall Athletes were recognized at the WUSD School Board Meeting on November 25 for their state performances. Sophomore Gio Anello competed his second season this fall in a Whippet CC uniform in dramatic fashion. Gio earned his first-1st team All Rock Valley Conference honor by placing 6th in the RVC meet. A week later he punched his ticket to state by claiming the final individual qualifying spot. At state, he reached new heights and ran a perfect race to secure 25th place out of 152 runners. Gio was the 2nd best finisher in the State Meet not only from our conference but also from our sectional. Finally, outside of alumni Brett Harms from 2010-2013, Gio is the highest finisher since Jordan Maas who placed 20th in 1997. Congratulations!
