Environmental Science Classes Plant Donated Trees
Tree Donation

Doug and Janie Anderson recently donated several trees to Whitewater High School. In cooperation with Ron Kelley and David Friend, members of Mr. Paul Majors' Environmental Science classes dug the holes and planted the trees near the freshman baseball diamond. The trees were purchased as bare-root trees, and this provided a new learning opportunity for all. According to Cornell University, a bare-root tree contains 200 percent more roots than the same tree if it is dug with soil intact and then sold as balled and burlapped. They are also hundreds of pounds lighter and easier to manage. Pictured is Doug Anderson with one of Mr. Majors’ Environmental Science classes.
